[Shenzhen, China– 7 November 2018] Mission Hills Group in China was a major winner at this year’s Asian Golf Awards with 12 awards, including Best Golf Resort in Asia Pacific for Mission Hills Haikou and Best Course in China for its World Cup Course in Shenzhen.

The Blackstone Course at Mission Hills Haikou was inducted into the inaugural Asia Pacific Order of Zenith by the organizing committee, which deemed it timely to elevate the Schmidt-Curley designed course to a permanent place of excellence.

Other Asian Golf Awards presented to Mission Hills Haikou on Hainan Island included Best Clubhouse and Best Golf Club Experience in Asia Pacific.  The award for the region’s Best Golf Resort was received for the seventh consecutive year.

In addition to Best Course in China for its Jack Nicklaus-designed World Cup Course, Mission Hills Shenzhen was also voted Asia Pacific’s Best Golf Academy, Best Pro-Shop and Best Driving Range.

Mission Hills Group was commended for its sustainability efforts over 25 years with a special Asia-Pacific Custodian of the Environment Award.  Members of the Mission Hills team were also recognized, including Danny Lai, Food and Beverage Manager of the Year, Michael Owen, first runner-up in the category of Best Professional Golf Coach in Asia Pacific and General Manager Han Zhi-Shan, who was inducted into the 2018 Legion of Leaders.

Tenniel Chu, Group Vice-Chairman of Mission Hills said:  “We are truly grateful to golfers across the region for voting for Mission Hills and for recognising our commitment to putting China on the global golfing map for the last 25 years.”

Mission Hills Group is the owner and operator of two luxury resorts in China, one in Shenzhen in southern China and the other in Haikou on the tropical tourism island of Hainan.  Together, the fully-integrated facilities span a total of 40 square kilometres and 22 golf courses, making Mission Hills the largest golf complex in the world.

The Asian Golf Awards were further recognition for the Mission Hills Group’s continued commitment to China’s golf and leisure industry in 2018.  The Group also received three World Golf Awards this month; last month its Haikou facility was voted Asia Pacific Golf Resort of the Year by IAGTO, the world’s leading golf tourism organisation; and earlier this year the Blackstone Course at Mission Hills Haikou entered Golf Digest’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses for the first time at number 48.
