[Haikou, China – 05 Feb 2018] Dreams really did come true for three Chinese children when they met footballing superstar Lionel Messi on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to FC Barcelona in Spain.

10-year-old Li Shibo plus eight-year-olds Lang Dacheng and Zhan Zhijie had been singled out by FC Barcelona following the first ever training camp by the world’s most famous football club at Mission Hills Haikou resort in China last summer.

The three boys from Hainan Province were invited to train at Barça’s flagship football school in Spain and to visit ‘La Masia’, the youth academy that produced superstars including Messi, Andres Iniesta, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets and Xavi Hernández.

Off the pitch, Li, Lang and Zhan had the chance to meet their heroes including five-time Ballon D’Or winner Messi and his Argentine international teammate Javier Mascherano, who recently left the club for Hebei China Fortune.

The boys also enjoyed VIP access to the club’s facilities, posed with several trophies and even stepped out onto the Camp Nou pitch to line up with the first team before the La Liga game against Deportivo Alaves.

The three budding footballers are now back in their home city of Haikou where they will continue their regular training at the FCB Escola. A second training camp will commence this week after a successful first camp last summer which was attended by several hundred students.

The five-time Champions League winners announced a partnership with the Mission Hills Group in February 2017, which sees the Spanish club managing and operating a soccer school outside of Barcelona for the first time in its 118-year history.

The FCB Escola in Hainan is located at the Mission Hills Football Training Base in the capital city of Haikou. When fully complete, the Training Base will span 345,000 square meters, including 20 football pitches and other state-of-the-art academy facilities.

With football superstar Ronaldinho in attendance last February, FC Barcelona and Mission Hills also announced the club’s first overseas interactive FC Barcelona experience area at Mission Hills Centreville, a unique experience that will bring the excitement of Barça to football fans across China.
